War on Terror: “We’re coming to arrest, smoke out terrorists in their holes” Buhari makes ‘routine promises’

President Muhammadu Buhari has said his government would come after and arrest terrorists who carried out the fresh attacks and killings in the Shiroro local government area of Niger State on Thursday.

The President has assured that the culprits would not go unpunished and also praised operatives of the security forces who were killed during the process of defending the country against the insurgency.

The president said these in an issued press statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, yesterday.

However, pundits say this is perhaps the umpteenth time that President Buhari is making ‘routine promises’ to Nigerians.

Recall that terrorists killed over 30 Nigerian soldiers, policemen and also abducted some Chinese nationals in Niger State.

The Co-convener of a group, ‘Concerned Shiroro Youth of Niger State’, Sani Kokki, in an issued statement on Thursday, said the dead bodies of about 30 soldiers had been discovered in the bush and recovered.

The death toll of Ajata – Aboki massacre of Shiroro LGA in the State has risen astronomically. At present, almost 30 soldiers have been discovered in the bush and confirmed dead, he said.
